Drip tips are great for anyone who likes to be a little more adventurous while vaping. Drip Tips give the user the ability to bypass using a cartridge and deposit e-liquid directly onto the atomizer. There are some advantages and disadvantages to using drip tips and we are going go further into detail on that here.

The goods and bads…

Some of the features that people really like about using drip tips is the enhaced performace that is delivered when your Joye 510 or Joye eGo atomizer is equipped with one. In a typical scenario, the user would experience increased amounts of vapor and flavor of the e-liquid they are using. Some people refuse to use anything other than a drip tip because of this. Other users like to use drip tips because they like to switch flavors frequently. Using a drip tip, you don’t really have to “settle down” with one e-liquid flavor because you’re only vaping exactly what you put into the atomizer. Another reason that the flavor appears to be better is the fact that no poly-fill is used and thus the flavor is not altered in any way.

As with anything, there are some disadvantages to using drip tips that many people experience. First off, drip tips should really be used by advanced vapers because they do limit the lifespan of your atomizer. They limit the life of the atomizer because the Joyetech atomizer is designed to accept a cartridge that slowly delivers liquid to the heating coil. When using a drip tip, you are dripping directly into the atomizer, and in a lot of cases, the liquid gets by the mesh cone inside of the atomizer and directly onto the coil. For optimal efficiency, you should keep the amount of drips to a minimal to reduce the risk of over saturating your atomizer. Another thing to note here is that when you’re driving down the road, it can be rather difficult to drip your e-liquid into the atomizer so you can vape. No one should be dripping and driving as this can be a major distraction and could lead to an accident.

Using the Joyetech Tank Systems

A little explanation…

The Joye 510-T and Joye eGo-T from Joyetech are some of the newest and most advanced electronic cigarette designs to hit the personal vaporizer market in a long time.

You first have to really understand the whole concept behind the invention of the tank system. The tank system was designed to give the user a vaping experience unlike any other. Using plastic tank cartridges that contain no poly-fill, the tank cartridges are supposed to give the user a better representation of the flavor of the e-liquid being used to fill them. Joyetech figures that if there isn’t any media in the cartridge other than your e-liquid, the taste will not be altered in any way. The other real benefit described with the tank systems is that the vapor production and e-liquid feeding system is enhanced due to the fact that the e-liquid travels directly to the eGo-T atomizer coil, thus giving the flavor and vapor more of a drip tip feel to it.

There are some good things and bad things about using the Joyetech tank system. Since we have already described the benefits, we will move forward to some of the flaws about the tank systems as a whole.

Generally speaking, the tank systems have some issues with leaking. This is a very common issue and has been addressed by many of people online. The real reason for this is the silica fibers within the piercing needle of the Joye 510-T or Joye eGo-T atomizer have a tendency to slide down and out of place. This is a very common issue and Joyetech has even released a solution to the problem, eGo-T Overflow Prevention Caps. This problem with the silica wick moving out of place is actually due to user error when placing the empty tanks onto the atomizer, this is usually done with too much force and thus causes the atomizer wick to move out of place. The eGo-T Overflow Prevention Caps help reduce this because they are a bit softer than the original caps and makes piercing them easier for the user.

We recommend simply using a sterile pick or pin to pierce the cap on the empty tank cartridge prior to inserting onto the tank atomizer. This helps prevent too much force being exerted on the needle inside of the atomizer and makes for a longer period of time before having to adjust the wick.

Adjusting the atomizer wick

This step can be a little tricky and should only be performed if you have the correct tools and proper lighting.

1. With a small pick (preferrably one with a hook on it), reach down into the eGo-T Atomizer and leverage your pick into the gap on either side of the needle base inside.

2. Pry up on the needle base very gently and slowly alternating sides as you are doing so.

3. You will start to see that the needle base is moving out of the atomizer and once you have it out it will look something like this.

4. At this point, you will also notice the silica wick inside of the needle.

5. If the silica wick is depressed so that the head of the wick isn’t flush with the opening of the needle, please proceed to adjusting it. Using your small pick, gently pull the wick up until it reaches the opening of the needle.

6. Once you have adjusted the wick to where it is supposed to be, you will need to re-install the needle base back into the eGo-T atomizer. To do this, simply insert the needle base back into the atomizer the same way it came out. Be sure not to rush here, you must make sure that the fibers of the silica wick make great contact with the coil of the atomizer to ensure proper feeding.

7. The needle base will not completely seat back into the atomizer until you press your eGo-T tank cartridge back onto the atomizer and it snaps back in place.

8. Another quick note, make sure that the vent channels on your eGo-T tank cartridge line up with the two channels on the needle base to ensure proper air flow and minimal amounts of leaking in the future.

Using Empty Cartridges

Re-filling your Joye 510 or Joye eGo cartridges are a great way to save some money, and in the case of using tank systems, it’s a must! For details relating to tank cartridge filling, please choose “Using Tank Cartridges”.

For the Joye 510 and Joye eGo starter sets, you will use the following method:

1. Open the package containing the empty cartridge that you have purchased.

2. Remove the rubber sealing cap from the empty cartridge.

3. Remove the white poly-fill from the outer plastic shell using your fingernail or tweezers if available.

4. Using a bottle of e-liquid, preferably USA E-Liquid from Texas Select Vapor, drop your e-liquid into the empty cartridge until the e-liquid level is approximately 1/8 of an inch from the top of the cartridge. You need to be sure to leave enough room to re-insert your poly-fill.

5. Now you are going to take the poly-fill that you removed earlier and place it back into the cartridge slowly and in the same direction it was removed.

6. Go ahead and place 1-2 drops of e-liquid on the very top of the poly-fill to prime it for use. This also helps the poly-fill begin to wick the remaining e-liquid you filled initially.

You’re ready to go! Either place your rubber sealing cap back onto the now pre-filled cartridge for future use, or place your cartridge onto your atomizer and begin vaping.

Maintaining your Joyetech Atomizer

This topic has been covered by people from all over the web. As with anything, don’t believe everything that you read online.

You should always consider a few things prior to attempting any cleaning or clearing of your Joye 510 or Joye eGo atomizer.

1. Never, wait… NEVER use Isopropyl Alcohol or any other chemical to clean out your atomizer. This chemical is not safe to inhale and because your atomizer contains silica fibers that are specifically designed to absorb liquid for vaporization, there’s no way to ensure complete removal of isopropyl alcohol or other chemicals from the fibers inside of the atomizer.

2. Do not use any form of pressurized air to blow through your atomizer. This includes: computer air cleaner, compressed air, spray nozzles, or any other form of moving air through your atomizer except for your mouth. The reason for this is because using pressurized air puts stress on the fibers lining your atomizer coil. If you continue with pressurized air, you risk blowing your atomizer wick out completely or, even worse, completely ruining an older atomizer because the coil is not strong enough to withstand the pressure you’re applying to it. In general, using compressed air of any form is a bad idea.

With the methods listed above in mind, there is a much better approach to cleaning out your atomizer to ensure it’s working at it’s best. This method will only work with Joye 510 Atomizers and Joye eGo Atomizers. Do not attempt this cleaning procedure with any of the tank systems.

1. Start off by removing your atomizer from your Joye 510 battery or Joye eGo battery.

2. Now remove the cartridge from the atomizer and wipe off any excess e-liquid from the area where the cartridge is normally attached.

3. Wear protective nitrile gloves throughout the entire process to avoid e-liquid coming in contact with your skin. Grab some paper towels and find yourself a seat to sit down in. The next step can make some people a little light headed and should only be attempted if your health is good enough to do so.

4. Holding your atomizer in your hand with the battery side connection facing down and toward your paper towel, you are going to place the cartridge side of the atomizer into your mouth and begin to blow out the excess e-liquid that you atomizer has built up. This step should only take about 10-15 seconds and your atomizer should not have any more liquid purging from the battery side connection.

5. Now you are going to hold the atomizer firmly from the cartridge side with the battery side connection remaining to face down. (Do not let go of your atomizer) At this point you are going to more or less sling the atomizer in a downward motion to remove excess liquid. You should perform this step into a sink or waste bin because you would be amazed at how much e-liquid is left in the atomizer, even after blowing out.

6. If e-liquid remains to come from the atomizer, repeat steps 4-5 until all e-liquid has been purged.

7. Now you will take your paper towel and wipe the entire atomizer down to ensure all e-liquid has been removed and the atomizer is cleaned up for using again. Be sure to wipe the threads very well because this is where your atomizer makes contact with your battery and a great connection leads to better performance!

8. In this step we will manually clear the remaining e-liquid from your atomizer. You are going to do a very quick and not very good tasting “burn in” on your atomizer. This is done by reassembling your electronic cigarette completely minus the cartridge. Take a 2-4 second puff, do not inhale, and you should taste a dry almost flavorless hit that can be a little harsh sometimes. Only do this once, doing it more than once will risk your atomizer possibly burning up completely.

9. Now you need to prime your atomizer by dripping drops into the atomizer, directly onto the coil. Please refer to the list below for how many drops to use.

For Joye 510 Atomizer: Drip 2 drops directly into center of the cartridge side of your atomizer.

For Joye eGo Atomizer: Drip 4 drops directly into center of the cartridge side of your atomizer.

10. All that’s left is making sure that your cartridge is completely topped up and ready to be used. Reassemble the entire Electronic Cigarette and you are ready to vape.

Money Savings With Electronic Cigarettes

You may or may not have heard about the new alternative to smoking cigarettes called electronic cigarettes. These are called a few different things like: e-cigarette, personal vaporizers, e-cigs but all these titles relate back to a product that is changing the way people smoke in more ways than one.

First off, we’ll be referring to electronic cigarettes as e-cigs for short. So, e-cigs are proving themselves by providing the 18 and up market with a way to save money and really enjoy themselves while doing so.

Initially, e-cigs may seem like an substantial investment but the pay-off is worth the cost, well most of the time anyways. Typically, e-cig starter kits (e-cig starter sets) range from “Free” all the way up to around $200. The majority of the e-cig starter kits are somewhere in the middle of that price range. This may seem expensive, but when you figure in the ability to refill cartridges by purchasing e-liquid, it really ends up saving you a lot of money in the long run.

Figure in that a pack of cigarettes averages $6.50 and last the average smoker approximately a day. When you calculate the price of $200 the average smoker spends in a month, buying analog smokes can add up quickly. The average price for a 10 mL bottle of e-liquid is about $10 give or take. A 10 mL bottle lasts the average pack a day smoker in between 1 and 2 weeks depending on e-liquid blend ratio.

This alternative ends up averaging out at $20 – $30 a month for e-liquid. That’s a huge savings over using traditional smokes! Since we are trying our hardest to be honest about the true cost of e-cigs, we have to factor in the cost of the hardware, or starter kit, over the period of the month as well.

If you purchase a starter kit that costs $100 and is expected to last approximately 90 days, that averages out at $33.33 a month for hardware costs. So this brings your total monthly expenses between $55 and $65 a month. Now that’s a great savings!

Given the amount saved as estimation, there are several other factors that play into the reasons that e-cigs are becoming so popular.
